Job description

The University of Deusto invites applications from outstanding candidates interested in joining the university as a Ikerbasque Research Fellow, through the 2021 call launched by Ikerbasque - the Basque Foundation for Science. The call offers 20 positions in total for postdoctoral researchers. These positions are financed by the Basque Government and the host institution where the researcher will develop his/her research.

 

Deusto Institute of Technology - DeustoTech (http://deustotech.deusto.es/) located in Bilbao (Spain), is the research institution of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Deusto, created with the mission of promoting research and postgraduate training in Information Technology and Communications (ICT) at the service of society and industry. DeustoTech currently participates in 17 different H2020 projects, coordinating 5 of them, promoting a creative and challenging environment with international researchers and PhD students.

 

The five year Fellowships are directed to promising young researchers and  intend to offer a track towards a PI role and independent research. Ikerbasque is committed to offer a long-term career to the research community. Fellows in their 5th year can be assessed for a permanent position.

DeustoTech is looking for promising young researchers  that will apply to the Ikerbasque Research Fellows 2021 Call.

Requirements

 Candidate Requirements:

  • Applicants should have completed their PhD between 01/01/2010 and 31/12/2018.
  • Excellent written and oral English language skills are required.
  • Promising young researchers with a solid research track and international experience in any of the areas related to the research lines.
  • Established researchers, with 3 to 10 years of postdoctoral experience will apply for permanent positions as Research Fellows.
  • Researchers with a permanent position in the Basque Country are not eligible under this call.
  • This call provides competitive opportunities to Basque researchers who want to develop long-term careers in the Basque Country. It is intended that at least 30% of the positions will be awarded to candidates who meet one or more of these requirements:
    • The researcher obtained her/his PhD in a Basque university.
    • The researcher graduated from a Basque university.
    • The researcher has lived in the Basque Country 10 or more years during her/his lifetime
  • Applications from women are especially welcomed. The eligibility period will be extended under special circumstances such as maternity.

  • A complete CV (education and research experience and a list of scientific publications).
  • A proposal describing the motivation for joining the Deustotech team and explaining the research lines and interests that would carry out at the University of Deusto. 
  • Two recommendation letters
