Orkestra – Basque Institute of Competitiveness is a centre for analysis and debate on territorial competitiveness. Orkestra was created in 2006 within the Deusto Foundation at the University of Deusto. The Institute is the result of the different strategic, private and public initiatives which converge with the aim of building competitive societies and enterprises as a key condition for prosperity and welfare.

Orkestra looks to employ a full time researcher to develop a research project with the objective of implementing an Observatory for Vocational Training and Dual Vocational Training in Spain. This Observatory looks to become a tool for the analysis of vocational training, with a comprehensive systematic approach including the regional dimension, while creating scientific knowledge and developing policies.

Enhance the area of knowledge on vocational training and more specifically the implementation of the Observatory for Vocational Training and Dual Vocational Training in Spain:

Become part of a work team in charge of promoting the project.
Carry out preparatory work for the design of the platform and its implementation.
Participate in the diagnostic analysis that results from the Observatory.
Help coordinate the implementation of the project as well as the relationships with related partners.
Help manage the financial dimension of the project as well as the relationships with technological partners.

The successful candidate will identify synergies from the project with other action lines and research projects at Orkestra, in the field of competitiveness and productive specialisation, hiring and employment in the work market, as well as identifying the main trends that allow the performance of the vocational training and dual vocational training systems to be contextualised and valued.

Requirements

PhD degree with training in Economic and Business Sciences or other social sciences.
The candidate must have experience in and the capacity to coordinate research projects.
Proficiency in English, good command in Spanish. Additionally, knowledge of Basque will be positively valued.
The candidate should have advanced knowledge and skills in the field of vocational training, including methodological and analytical skills, as well as the capacity to redact reports which include policy recommendations. Evidence of the capacity to publish in journals of academic impact will be positively valued.

Candidate should prove to have the capacity to establish constructive relationships with the other professionals at the Institute, as well as with the relevant actors in the competitiveness field. Ability to communicate,capacity for teamwork, motivation for researching and innovation, and be aligned with the culture and mission of the University of Deusto.

We Offer:

This is a full-time position. Temporary contract linked to a research project. Salary will be determined according to the candidate’s experience and skills.
